The Moreton Group recently conducted a survey to find out what people really do when they retire – and it seems they do a lot of things.
Forty percent of people purchased either a holiday or a vehicle when they retired, and the remaining 60% purchased a range of items with spas, jewelry, gifts, home renovations, motorbikes and sports equipment all making the list.
It seems ‘living the dream’ isn’t all travel, gardening and looking after grandchildren, but also learning a language or musical instrument, cooking, volunteering, fishing and a whole lot more. Eighty survey respondents nominated over 30 different retirement pastimes.
We see our clients do everything from setting up a hobby farm to writing a novel. Some people invest their money, get very serious about a hobby or interest or take on very large projects.
We simply have to think about what we enjoy and then find out what’s possible.
